About Me
Hey there, I’m so glad you’ve stopped by and have taken a moment to find out more about me.
If you were to meet me in person I’d probably give you a big ‘ole hug.
I’ve been on a journey of finding & discovering more love in my life in recent years that has been blending – oh — so — nicely into my life and biz.
I’d like to take you on a virtual walk and tell you a bit about my entrepreneurial life journey.
How I Became An Entrepreneur
Thinking back years and years ago — I believe I became an entrepreneur as a child.
While most kids were setting up lemonade stands, I was delivering 4 paper routes with my Dad and my older sister.
What kid does that?
I remember discussing with my dad how it would be fun to have a paper route, his response was, “why not get 4?” and I agreed (at 8 years old) – seriously what kid does that?
I guess me (hee hee).
I remember telling my grade 3 teacher and the look of surprise on her face when I told her.
I would wake up at 3am with my dad and my sister and deliver the 4 routes before starting school.
My teacher was so supportive she even had me answer questions to the kids in my class who were thinking about starting their own paper route.
I thought it was FUN and we did it I believe for about a year.
From there I sold chocolate bars and shoe polish door to door.
If you were standing in front of me right now I would be telling you all about how much I just LOVED the shoe polish. I even get emotional about the shoe polish because I remember holding it in my little hands with the beautiful Christmas scene on the outside.
When you opened it up a sponge would pop out and I would explain to people how they could use it on ANY type of shoe.
I sold them like crazy!
Personally lots of things happened and then well…..
I became a Mom at age 17

Here’s a picture with my beauty Tori. I remember her as a baby like it was yesterday, I love that girl. She’s now all grown up and such a beautiful person. I never knew where life would take us but we’ve had quite the journey together.
If you want to read more about my work history, this post tells it all pretty good too.
My Retail Days
By the time I was 21 I was being handed the keys to my very first store.
Here’s a picture of my Mom and I in my first store. I’ve always worked with my Mom however I did this all on my own with my then husband.
It was 2 years of preparation working like a nut to get into my first store and then my entire 20′s were a complete blur.
A complete BLUR.
1 store lead to 5 locations – didn’t like it so — I sold 3 locations and closed 2 all by the time I was 33 years old.
I remember one moment when I was standing behind the counter of one of my stores, up to my hips in empty boxes and pulling products out, pricing them and putting them on the shelf.
I looked down at my feet and thought to myself….
“it’s a nice dream to own a business but this is not what I thought it would be.”
I will never forget THAT moment
I then went onto my online career in 2004 which lead to full time in 2007 — the year my baby girl was diagnosed with cancer at age 15.
I literally sold my last store location May 2007 and she was diagnosed November 2007.
Here I thought I was building my online biz to take us into the future but it felt more like God’s blessing that I could grab my laptop and work from the hospital room.

She’s cancer free today — Praise God! & one day I’ll write about that journey but for now, here’s a pic of my beauty who is now living a beautiful life, I’m a very proud Mom!
Beautiful, lovely, simply gorgeous!
My Online Biz Days
After Tori endured such a crazy life journey — she went through a stem cell transplant among MANY other things. I had a real moment with God.
It was after Tori was moved into isolation, she was sleeping while they wheeled her in and there I was standing alone in a room with my baby girl.
I looked over her and could see my sweet little baby girl and her scrunchy little nose the day I first held her in my arms.
I heard God’s voice say to me, “Vera, there is so much more I require of you.”
I knew in that very moment that everything that I knew about my life would change.
When Tori was finished her treatment I sold my entire online biz.
Gone Poof, Done!
I wanted a break, I needed to take time with God to see where exactly He wanted to lead my life.
Again if you want a more detailed description of my thoughts on the whole thing, check out this post here.
It was a scary thing to do, but as an entrepreneur you take risks and that was a HUGE one for me.
